Hurricane Beryl 10am update

Courtesy of our media partner 12News Meteorologist Patrick Vaughn

10 AM UPDATE: Catastrophic Beryl rolling across the Caribbean with 160 MPH winds. Weakening should begin tomorrow as Beryl interacts with Jamaica and starts feeling the wind shear. It should be near the Yucatan by Friday and in the SW Gulf by Saturday. Keep in mind that Beryl should be a Tropical Storm once in the Gulf not a major Hurricane. Beyond Saturday the exact track is impossible to forecast but still looking like south Texas or Mexico as a Tropical Storm or a Category. 1 . Continuing to monitor. Will know more Wednesday.

Overall track and intensity forecast remain uncertain into the southern Gulf with several factors at play. guidance has shifted a bit to the north in the last 24 hours. It appears strong wind shear and land interaction will significantly weaken Beryl when it reaches the Gulf and conditions do not look overly favorable for an increase in intensity in the Gulf.

To be clear: Beryl will NOT be what it is now in the southern Gulf!!
