Laurie Jones Obituary Oct. 13, 1942 - May 29, 2024

Laurie Jones, 81, of Woodville, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at her residence.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Laurie was born October 13, 1942 to Wilbur Ashford and May Nelia Henry Yelton in Beaumont, Texas. She was a former resident of Galveston and lived in Dam B, Texas for the past 3 years. Laurie attended school in Beaumont, and was a former South Western Bell phone operator and legal secretary. She enjoyed fishing, and loved being outdoors and at the ocean.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and May Yelton; husband, Jerry Michael Jones; brother, Bill Yelton; and sisters, Elva Ratcliff, and Betty Sanderson.

She is survived by her son, Paul Thomas Nanney of Galveston; sisters, Rose Barber of Dam-B, and Lydia Erb of New Caney, Texas; grandchildren, Paul Wilbur Nanney, Laura Martinez, Michael Nanney, Angela Lynch, William Nanney, Elizabeth Rocha, Carla Rocha and Brenda Perez; and great grandchildren, Jordan Lynch, Emma Lynch, Lorena Martinez and Selena Martinez.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
