Motorcycle saddle bag ignited on hot exhaust

At 2:05 pm Sunday Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported motorcycle on fire on US Highway 190 approximately 1/2 mile east of FM 777.

Arriving units found a smoldering fire in the right rear saddle bag area of the motorcycle. The remaining fire was extinguished.

The owner operator reported that he had just purchased the motorcycle and was driving it to his house in Tyler County. He reported that the saddle bag on the right rear had came into contact with the exhaust pipe, starting the fire. No injuries as a result and the motorcycle was removed from the roadway.

Beech Grove responded with Engine 11 and 6 firefighters.
