Newton County Sheriff’s Reports - December 25th

 Calls To Services (December 17, 2023, to December 25, 2023):  The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO)answered 54 calls to service.

 

Jail Transports:  Newton County had 6 jail transports:  2 inmates picked up at Orange County S.O. and transported NCSO; 1 inmate transported to a Doctor’s appointment and returned to NCSO; 1 inmate transported to JMH and later transported to St. Elizibeth by medical; Deputies remained with inmate until released 5 days later; NCSO transported inmate to Beauregard Parrish S.O.; Picked up an inmate from Beauregard to bond out of jail.

 

Jail Population:  We currently have 27 inmates in the following jails:

11 housed in Newton, 10 housed in Beauregard Parish, 6 housed in Jasper.

 

CRIME WATCH:  Please stay vigilant and lookout for porch bandits taking packages off porches and out of mailboxes.

Bon Wier: Report of a Reckless Driving 190 East at the Sabine River Bridge-Transferred to Beauregard Parish S.O., Driver hit an animal, Control Burn, Fire/RV, Theft/Information (unfounded), Accident/hit a deer, Welfare Concern, Fraud/Information (counterfeit check received in the mail)
