Joseph Lewis,67, of Woodville, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Joseph Charles “Character” Lewis was born July 30, 1957, to the parentage of Dallas Lewis, Jr, and Creola Hafford Lewis in Woodville, TX. Joseph married Willie Jean Thompson in 1982. He attended Christ Holy Temple as a child and rejoined their congregation as an adult. He was a faithful member there until the time of his death.
Joseph was a man of many trades. For many years, he was known to do carpentry and plumbing. He was also trained to do appliance, A/C and heating repairs. More recently, he made a living as a welder and a landlord.
Joseph was a kind and generous man that believed in providing for his family and loved ones. He was aptly nicknamed Character because of his ability to find humor in any situation.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Creola Lewis, his sisters Dorothy and Barbara Lewis, and his son Joseph Thompson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his wife Willie Jean Lewis of Woodville, TX; daughter Shameca Thompson of Woodville, TX; son Malcolm Lewis, Sr. of Woodville, TX ; four brothers, Anthony Lewis of Lufkin, TX, Donnise Lewis (Mahogony) of Woodville, TX, Dallas Lewis III of Corrigan, TX, Edward Lewis (Carlicia) of Lufkin, TX; two sisters Iris Jones (Renwick) of Alexandria, LA; Lahoma Harrell (Burt) of Lufkin, TX; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
